Monitoring Seizures with Care Control
Monday the 13th of February marks International Epilepsy Day 2023, which focuses on the stigma people with epilepsy face around the world. Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological diseases worldwide and affects around 50 million people. There are many types of epilepsy, which means some types impact you when you are very young, and some will start later in life. Some types will only last for a period of time whilst others can last your whole life. In some cases, it may not be a life-long diagnosis and doctors may consider you do not have epilepsy if you go without seizures without anti-epileptic medication for a long enough time period.
Did you know?
Stigma and discrimination against people with epilepsy are widespread and substantially impair quality of life, social wellbeing and healthcare seeking.
Monitoring Seizures with Care Control
Within Care Control you can set up epilepsy risk assessments. The software also allows you to set up seizure monitoring and during an episode, you can document how long the seizure lasted, Carers can log what triggered the seizure and if there was any warning prior to the episode.
What’s great about this feature is you can monitor potential trends which could indicate what triggers future seizures. This is an especially useful tool for many of our supported living customers.
When setting up Care Control customers can request for the epilepsy monitoring feature to be enabled. This monitoring feature includes:
Pre-event observations: timings, triggers, warnings and auras.
What happened during the event: timings, facial expressions, movements, awareness and more.
Finally post-event observations: if there is any confusion or any other symptoms.
Carers are easily able to report seizure observations as and when they are needed. Creating an analysis and full patient history for the frequency and intensity of seizures is useful during the event a medical-professional needs to review the patients records.
If you are an existing customer and you would like to talk to one of our support team about enabling this feature please reach out to kerrie@carecontrolsystems.co.uk.
